Detailed Description
Visiting developing countries is never easy, though your tourist dollars do help the country it is often hard to see such poverty while the West experiences such opulence. We offer a tour that lets you experience Cambodia while giving something back. Below is a two week tour, but depending on how much time you want to give we're happy to work with you and develop a volunteer program that suits you.
Day 1 - Siem Reap - Arrival
You will be met by a Journeys Within representative and taken to Journeys Within Bed & Breakfast where you will meet your hosts Andrea and Brandon Ross. In the evening head into town for a traditional dinner and dance show.

Day 2 - Siem Reap - Angkor Wat
After breakfast head to Angkor Wat in an air-conditioned car with your guide. Explore this majestic temple throughout the morning while it is still cool and has fewer tourists. Return to Journeys Within for lunch and a nap. In the afternoon head to Angkor Thom, the famous walled city and see the many temples within its borders, including the fascinating Bayon temple. Watch the sun set over Angkor Wat, or climb Phnom Bakeng and watch the sunset from on high.

Day 3 - Siem Reap - Banteay Srei and Tonle Sap
Wake up early and our English speaking guide will escort you to Angkor Wat to watch the sun rise over this amazing building. Return to Journeys Within for a delicious breakfast.
After breakfast travel in an air conditioned car with your guide to Banteay Srei, the intricately carved temple just 30 km beyond Angkor Wat. On your way back stop at the Land Mine Museum, a rather humble look at the land mine problem, past and present, in Cambodia.
After a rest enjoy the drive through rural Cambodia to the Tonle Sap Lake where you will take a boat ride to visit the floating village and a Cambodian fish farm. Climb Phnom Krom and see the ancient ruins high on the hill and watch the sun set over the miles and miles of rice paddies and the Tonle Sap.

Day 4 - Siem Reap - Rolous Group and Markets
Visit the Rolous Group, a group of Angkorean temples 15 minutes outside of Siem Reap in a beautiful area, in the morning. Return to town for lunch. Take a walk around the Old Market and pay a visit to Artisans de Angkor. Later in the afternoon head back to the temples where you will visit Banteay Kdei and Ta Prohm, two of the prettiest temples in the complex. Watch the sunset from inside Ta Prohm or from the Angkor Wat promenade.

Day 5 - Siem Reap - Beng Mealea
Enjoy breakfast at Journeys Within before leaving the crowds behind and heading to Beng Mealea, a temple only recently opened to the public, about a three hour drive from Journeys Within. After an hour you will leave the paved road and get onto a beaten track running through rice fields and villages of rural Cambodia. At the temple our guide will help you imagine how it once was as you pick your way through the rubble now surrounded by jungle. Have a picnic lunch before returning to Siem Reap. Take a tuk-tuk ride into town for dinner.

Day 6 - Siem Reap - Volunteer Week
Breakfast at Journeys Within before heading to your volunteer job. This can range from teaching English at the local schools to helping at the Land Mine Museum or the SOS Children's Orphanage. For this time Journeys Within will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and will provide transport to and from where you'll be volunteering.
