Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 :

DAY 01 - KUL / TAMAN NEGARA
You will be met in your hotel lobby in the city centre between 0800hrs to 0830hrs to be transferred to the coach departing point to embark on a 4 hours journey to Kuala Tembeling jetty. Board a motorised longboat for another 3 hours to Kuala Tahan, the headquarters of Taman Negara. On arrival at Kuala Tembeling, please proceed to register yourself with the National Park and Wildlife Department. The longboat departs at 1400 hours (On Friday at 1430hrs). Enroute you will be passing by local villages and lush tropical rainforest. Any sightings of birds, monkeys, monitor lizards or water buffaloes are a bonus. Sighting of wildlife cannot be guaranteed due to the dense and huge area of Taman Negara (4343 sq km). Expected arrival at Kuala Tahan is 1700 hours. Register at the reception of Taman Negara Resorts and at leisure till 2030hrs.

Your guide will be meeting you this evening at 2030hrs. He will then give you a brief orientation. Your first adventure will be a night jungle walk in the 130 million years old tropical rainforest. We will be on a look-out for nocturnal insects amidst the chorus of the rainforest. Overnight in air-conditioned chalet.

Day 2 :

DAY 02 - TAMAN NEGARA
Breakfast. 0930hrs - Meet the guide and start with a jungle walk up Teresik Hill. This walk takes us further into the national park. The guide will highlight to you the rich flora found en route. At the top of Teresik Hill, enjoy a panoramic view of the tropical rainforest and on a clear day, see Mount Tahan, the highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia. Before returning to the base, we will go on a canopy walkway, built 40 metres above the ground and 450 metres in length. You will experience the rainforest from a different perspective, as you will be closer to the top of the trees!

This afternoon, we will take a motorised boat to the cataracts of Lata Berkoh. There is a deep pool delightful for swimming, resting or reading on the rocky area overlooking the river. On the way, we’ll stop over at Lubuk Tenor Fish Sanctuary where a fascinating fish feeding experience awaits. Lubok Tenor, blessed with clear water (unless there is recent heavy rain) and many fish is the result of a successful eco tourism project involving local villagers and the Government to create the fish sanctuaries.
Return to Resort. Overnight.

Day 3 :

DAY 03 - TAMAN NEGARA
Breakfast. This morning we will take a short boat ride and trek to explore a cave called Gua Telinga. This caves is home to bats, cave toads, crickets, frogs and other cave dwellers. If we are lucky, we may encounter a Batek Native Settlement, they are nomadic tribes and will move their home from time to time. The Batek in native language means people of the jungle. Learn about their way of living, try the blowpipe used for hunting. Return to Kuala Tahan.
Afternoon take a 30 minutes boat ride up through a series of 7 rapids shooting up to Kuala Trenggan. Relax in this pristine area of the National Park. Return to Kuala Tahan. Overnight.

Day 4 :

DAY 04 - TAMAN NEGARA / KUL
Breakfast. The boat for Kuala Tembeling departs at 0900hrs. This journey will take about 2 to 3 hours, depending on water level of the river. The transfer to Kuala Lumpur will depart by 1200 hours, expected arrival time at your hotel in Kuala Lumpur city centre is between 1530hrs to 1600hrs.

Day 5 :

What to bring:
A pair of walking shoes with rubber base, a hat or cap, sun tan or block lotion, small water proof rucksack, insect repellent, anti-malaria pills, binoculars, water bottle, swimming attire, light clothing - preferable cotton material, torch and raincoat.

Important:
It is not advisable to bring your suitcase for the boat ride. If you are not returning to Kuala Lumpur, please approach the Taman Negara Resort office at Kuala Tembeling to place your suitcase with them. Camera and fishing licence is payable at Kuala Tembeling.

The rainy season is between middle November to middle / end January. During the rainy season, some of the activities may be cancelled should there be a high element of safety at risk.

For those traveling to the east coast town of Kuantan you will arrive there at around 1530hrs.
