I don't plan to bring my laptop, only bring my mobile phone which currently have yahoo chat and email access in the U.S. Will I be able to have those access in Peru?

Hi, the answer is....it
Hi, the answer is....it depends ;-) I was in Peru over a year ago and was able to access voice/email on my Blackberry at all cities -- Lima and Cusco no problems. Their mobile network uses GSM 1900 (and GPRS). So it depends on whether your phone supports GSM 1900. How would you know? Best thing to do is call up your mobile company.
I use AT&T and they have a good website page:
http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/roaming/international-roaming.jsp
you can type in where you wanna go, and what phone you have, and it tells you whether it'll work!
Also, if it will work, you still need to call your mobile company and activate international roaming for your account -- typically they'll charge per kilobyte (I was charged 2 cents/kilobyte).
Enjoy Peru!
