Can anyone suggest a 3-4 day side trip to add to a 6 day stay in Hong Kong? Either short air hop or break in travel back to NYC

I am leaving in 10 days for a trip to HK to visit friends. Was supposed to go to Ubud, but can't find a suitable hotel(!) Looking for alternate side trip - either short distance in & out of HK or on my way back to NYC. Any suggestions? Prefer culture & local atmosphere, not just a beach resort somewhere. China is out of the question this year!

I would suggest visiting the Angkor Wat in Camodia. I think every person should visit that place
in their lifetime.
how about adding a side trip
how about adding a side trip to India? you could do Delhi, Agra and Jaipur on a 3night trip....log onto www.primetravels.com and select the Golden Triangle. There are direct flights from HKG to Delhi on Cathay, Air India or you can take Thai via BKK.
how about spend some time in
how about spend some time in China? Definitely has a lot to offer culture-wise. Even south and north China are very different. If your flight pass by Japan or along that route, maybe consider Shanghai?
With a quick search I found
With a quick search I found a few of the possible stop over locations that were interesting were Seoul, Doha, and Amsterdam. I have not been to any of those but i've always wanted to. As mentioned in a previous post, Japan is also a great place. I have been there and it doesn't take too much to get really into the culture and local atmosphere.
Your air ticket back to New
Your air ticket back to New York probably goes thru Japan, and a few days
in Tokyo or Osaka (kyoto) is fantastic. Hong Kong is very close to Manila
and the beaches at Boracay. rong@willetttravel.com
Bangkok is always nice.
Bangkok is always nice. Flights are normally pretty cheap too! Try Air Asia, I believe they fly there.
Okay, nevermind. From HK, you can only go to Kuala Lumpur on Air Asia. That's worth the trip too!
