Detailed Description

Day 1: Saturday/ Rwanda/Parc National des Volcans (PNV)

Arrive Kigali and depart for PNV. The journey takes you through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. (L, D) Volcanoes Virunga Lodge

Day 2: Sunday/ Parc National des Volcans (PNV)

This morning track the gorillas in PNV through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga’s. If you are lucky you may spot the gorillas after a few hours walk, however some gorilla families are more elusive and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. (B, L, D) Volcanoes Virunga Lodge

Day 3: Monday/ Parc National des Volcans (PNV)

This morning you may opt to go gorilla tracking again in PNV (the extra permit must purchased at time of initial booking), or visit the golden monkeys or drive to Gisenyi, visit Ross Carr's orphanage and Lake Kivu or climb the Visoke/Muhavura volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey's grave, or visit the local school, community projects or walk to Lake Bulera. (B, L, D) Volcanoes Virunga Lodge

Day 4: Tuesday/ Depart

After breakfast return to Kigali. Time permitting you may tour the city, a visit to the market, pottery project, handicraft shops, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre and the genocide memorial. Transfer to the airport for your onward flights for your safari extension. (B, L)
