Day 1: Adventure Arrives

Welcome to San Jose, a unique and vibrant city in a country known as paradise. Your romantic vacation starts here. The bustling streets are filled with people, music, astounding murals and museums packed with layers of gold. A private transfer greets you at the airport and escorts you to your golden accommodation.

Your hotel is located on a serene shaded street and offers you a Victorian mansion oasis in the heart of the capital city. The halls are decorated with lush tropical flowers that emanate a sweet and exotic aroma. The courtyard restaurant offers the elegance of a classical era and the delicacies of modern cuisine.  The fountain in front of the neoclassical National Theater spouts water into the air. Day 2: The Privacy of Trees

The morning spirit fills the city with activity. Children rush through La Sabana Park and watch the ducks swim around the pond. Today you make your way from the capital city’s crowds to the tranquil trees and beaches of the Caribbean. Arrive at your beautiful rainforest lodge and find an entire resort made for romance and privacy. The lodge combines the jungle atmosphere with exceptional luxury. The main lodge is a two story wooden building that glows in the candlelit evening. The trees are tall and their branches far-reaching, perfect for couples wanting to spend time in seclusion. The Pacuare River careens around the foothills. The hotel is situated between the towns of Turrialba and Siquirres. Day 3: Inspiring Waters and Trees 

The beauty of the rainforest can be viewed from the comforts of your private plunge pool or with an excursion through the towering trees. The day is at your leisure to enjoy the remarkable landscape as you desire, whether cozying up to your partner and marveling at the panorama or taking an adventurous ride together.

A day of canyoneering takes you through the charm and awe of the rainforest. Walk across hanging rope bridges and hear the sounds of the waterfalls trundling over a small cliff. You can see the pool billowing below. Your guide leads you down the cliffside and you can feel the cool rushing water tapping at your shoulders. The rocks are firm and wet. Birds and monkeys call in the canopy. Your heart beats from the passionate undertaking and the endless views, from the canopy walks to swinging over waterfalls. With such an adventurous day, you settle into the evening with the sensual delights of a three-course dinner and the soothing sounds of the surrounding jungle.

Day 4: Red Hot Marvels 

The rainforest sings in the morning with birdcalls and energetic monkeys. Leaves rustle and the cool, misty air wraps around your skin. After breakfast you will begin your exciting half-day river rafting tour along the Pacuare River. The river borders the Talamanca Mountains and leads to the Atlantic Ocean. The water is a pure turquoise, cool and crisp to the touch, calm and serene as you float farther down stream. Tall, craggy cliffs line the river and you can hear the rapids in the distance.

You maneuver around large boulders and trees sprouting from the rocky cliffs and shading the waterway. The rapids come quick and strong. The water splashes all around you. You paddle and push your way through the extent of the path, passing small waterfalls and seeing fluttering butterflies.

In the afternoon you will transfer to Arenal and settle into the delightful combination of gardens and comfort.  The classic décor and spacious luxuries combine with the marvelous panorama of Arenal Volcano to create a romantic and passionate atmosphere.

Day 5: Kissable Canopy

The morning is filled with naturally sweet treats. The mangos are juicy and the bananas are creamy. The luscious scent of coconut fills the room and the saccharine taste of pineapple lingers on your tongue. After breakfast you venture out on a guided tour through the canopy to experience the jungle from the perspective of a bird. Travel along zip lines that range between 40 and 1,400 feet in length. High in the treetops you will become familiar with the avifauna and the warm sunlight that beams through the open trees.

Scarlet macaw decorate the branches, their long tail feathers dangling like garlands behind them. As you glide to a series of platforms you have a remarkable view of the volcano. The steam rises out of the crater and mixes with the sporadic fluffy clouds. The lush rainforest displays is everlasting grandeur in the blossoming flowers and dense leaves. The vibrant diurnal animal life fades in the warm afternoon as they seek shade and rest. You return to your hotel and listen to dazzling stories of the region’s active volcano.

Day 6: Enigmatic Wild

Nicoya Peninsula is known for its relaxed atmosphere along a sensual coastline. The sapphire water brushes against the soft sand and peels up the shoreline. Waves create picturesque barrels before crashing down and filling the air with the soothing and familiar sound. The beaches press up against the edge of the rainforest. The trees climb the roaming foothills and mountains, filled with rugged wildlife and pristine beauty.

Settle into your comfortable and luxurious hotel set on the hillside. The property sits on large number of acres that overlooks the jungle and the water. Thatched roofing covers the rooms. The vast landscape is eternally verdant until reaching the expansive jeweled ocean. In the afternoon you can indulge in an onsite class where the resident mixologist teaches you how to make the perfect tropical cocktail, whether a concoction of various fruit juices or adding your favorite sauce to the mix.

Day 7: Innocent Seaside 

The day is yours to indulge in the romance and seclusion as you wish. Journey through the jungle on a guided trek or lounge on the soft, hot sand at the edge of the wandering water. Playa Grande is 397 hectares of protected beach dedicated to the nesting of leatherback turtles. Mangrove trees rise from the wetlands and create an ideal area for caiman. Otters climb up the low-lying tree roots; their tails are thick and long. Leatherback turtles nest in the area from October to March and are the worlds largest reptile, able to grow up to 2,000 pounds. The females use their flippers to dig a nest above the high-tide line. The eggs hatch during the evening, the turtles dig their way out of the nest and push themselves along the sand in search of the sea.

Day 8: Waterfalling Grace  

Today is another day of luxury and adventure. When the sun rises you can explore the far reaches of the peninsula’s beauty, from Playa del Carmen to the 17th century church of San Blas. Stroll along Waterfall Trail and see the natural geography create spectacular rainbow-clad waterfalls. The rainfall streams down the rolling hills and steep cliffs to create a collection of elegant cascades and deep pools. Roseate spoonbills graze on the marshy riverbanks. They resemble pink flamingoes in both size and color.

Montezuma Falls is the most celebrated falls in the country and is an accumulation of three separate waterfalls. People climb up to the top of the cliff and dive from the highest point down into the pool. The tallest falls thunders down with a powerful force while the two smaller falls bead down with soft grace. The greenery opens around the pools and you can dip your body into the water and refresh yourself amidst your spectacular surroundings.

Day 9: Charming Sunsets

Picnics alongside waterfalls and the afternoon jungle discoveries are unique opportunities to experience the wonders of Costa Rica. However, the coastal magnetism of Manuel Antonio draws you near. The national park is known to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire country. The jungle frames the golden sand and drapes over the hillside. The water around the shore ranges from perfect sapphire to turquoise. Away from the shore the water becomes crystal clear. The sunlight pierces the ocean surface and spotlights the underwater world.

Day 10: Wandering Mangroves

Lounge on the beach and let the sunshine wash over your skin, or take part in a private guided tour through the hills. The days in the diverse landscape and ecosystems of Manuel Antonio National Park overflow with possibilities. The mangroves at Damas Island create wide and narrow canals that lead to the ocean. Follow your guide alongside the winding and leaning estuary to observe the natural marvels of the island. The water is cool as it drips off of your paddle. The trees line the banks and sprout from the water itself. White-headed capuchin monkeys watch you from the trees. Their tails curl around the branches and their watchful eyes follow you upstream. An adult’s tail is longer than its body and can reach almost 22 inches in length. Every push of your paddle takes you deeper into the island’s winding canals and into its secluded reaches.

Day 11: Simmering Sunshine

The sounds of the national park are incandescent. When you wake in the morning the rainforest is already lively and the waves press against the shoreline. Your final day can be spent relaxing poolside and watching the palm trees create the unique and gorgeous skyline. In the early afternoon you can board a catamaran for an exploration of the sea and an ocean view of the sunset. The sparkling water opens up along the horizon and you can see the rolling hill of the national park carpeted in dense jade. Cliffs rise and fall along the shoreline. The aroma of the water is crisp and inviting.

When the boat stops you can jump into the sea and gander at the coral that makes its home on the ocean floor. Schools of yellow-tailed surgeonfish wade through the bright water. Butterfly fish swim with the elegant coloring of butterfly wings. As the sun begins to set you find the splendor of the horizon burning with rich and enchanting brightness. Suddenly the flaming sunset cools and the stars light up the night.
