BEIJING
After breakfast your guide will escort you to Houhai Lake, where Beijing’s seniors gather each morning to enjoy a variety of activities; from badminton and Tai Chi to street opera and ballroom dancing, this is a true taste of Chinese community life. A local master will teach you the basics of Tai Chi or Kung Fu in a true Chinese setting. Afterwards enjoy a rickshaw tour in Beijing’s ‘Hutongs’, a maze of traditional old alleyways and courtyards. Stroll along the famous and slightly outlandish Dong Hua Men snack street where all sorts of fruit, snacks and creatures are being sold to hungry punters. Afterwards feast on a scrumptious all-you-can-eat buffet featuring both Eastern and Western delicacies at the nearby Golden Jaguar Restaurant.
GREAT WALL
After breakfast your guide will take you shopping for an authentic Chinese kite to fly on the Great Wall later today. Transfer by private car to Mutianyu village where you will be given the key to your own rustic private villa with views of the Great Wall.
Before setting out to climb the Wall and test your kites, a courtyard lunch is served. The afternoon Great Wall hike comes in two flavors: an easy grade stroll along the accessible and renovated Mutianyu section or a more challenging exploration of the unrestored Jiankou section. After a couple of hours of hiking, you retreat to your villa where a local chef will prepare a barbecue dinner.
