What are your overall comments on the trip and travel company?
Peerless. It was the best organized trip we've ever taken.
And, by the way--normally we're do-it-yourself people. We went to Morocco completely cold and had a great time there. Of course one pays more to arrange things through an agency. But I'm really glad we did, because we learned a ton about the country. In China, one avoids guides because they never know anything interesting about the sites. But in Turkey, we consistently had guides who not only knew but cared about Greek history, Roman history, the Ottomans, the Hittites, et al and who could answer all our questions. I was especially grateful for Oshan in Istanbul and Ozkan in Cappadocia. You know well how professional Ozkan is. Oshan was a mine of information on church history, Istanbul history, the sultans, architecture, and everything else we asked about. My son is even interested now in studying Turkish. We came away with such a deeper understanding, and I think a future appreciation for Turkey, much more than just a vacation.
