Jiuzhaigou National Park in Sichuan Province is like Nature’s experimental pallet of colors with splashes of blue-jade lakes surrounded by sparkling crystal waterfalls cascading down white snow-peaked mountains which are clothed in forests of varying shades of green. The Jiuzhaigou area is definitely a rare gem of beauty which should be visited when on China tours.
Home to Qing and Tibetan peoples for thousands of years, this secluded patch of paradise was only discovered in 1972 when scientists who were tracking the migration of endangered Pandas followed them into the valley. Since being named a national park in 1982, Jiuzhaigou has been honored as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, a World Biosphere Reserve, a Green Globe 21, a National Geological Park and an AAAA Class Scenic Spot.
Although Jiuzhaigou has mostly been a popular tourist destination for Chinese citizens, in recent years the rest of the world has started to come to value its breathtaking landscape and tranquil atmosphere. This is mainly due to its recent ease of accessibility via the Jiuzhaigou Ring Way, a massive highway connecting the Jiuzhaigou reserve with the Jiuhuang Airport at Chengdu.
Now, this fairyland of spectacular scenery and its wide variety of interesting flora and fauna make Jiuzhaigou National Park a treasured China tour destination. This wonderland is a place where you can catch glimpses of goat-like takins crossing the rocks and crags and golden monkeys gliding through the treetops while roaming through the remarkable views which the park has to offer.
Enjoy the exquisite beauty which surrounds Swan Lake, Panda Lake, Mirror Lake, Five Flower Lake, Pearl Shoal and Arrow Bamboo Lake located in the Rize Valley. You will discover the Seasonal Lakes, Long Lake and Five-Colored Pond in the Zechawa Gully. And, the Nuorilang Lakes, along with the impressive Nuorilang Falls, Reed Lake and Sleeping Dragon Lake all await you in the Shuzheng Valley.
Natural beauty isn’t the only thing you’ll enjoy in the Jiuzhaigou National Park. You can also experience the culture and everyday life of the Tibetan and Qing people who still call this beautiful area home. Taste locally prepared foods, pick up locally produced goods and catch intriguing performances at many of the Jiuzhaigou town night spots.
